Obituary of Mary Meyer

Mary Elizabeth Meyer, 82, of Beardstown, died Monday, June 4, 2018 at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

She was born June 15, 1935 in Jackson, TN, the daughter of William and Kathleen Howington Krider. She married John Meyer in October of 1978 in Beardstown and he preceded her in death on August 2, 1989.

She is survived by one daughter, Joyce Carroll Pratt of Beardstown; two sons, Clifford (Helen) Carroll of Rushville and Thomas (Rita) Carroll of Beardstown; five grandchildren, Ruthann Pratt of Beardstown, Cindy (Charlie) McMurl of Thorton, CO, Amanda Carroll of Blandinsville, Rodney Root and Amy Hamilton, both of Beardstown; eleven great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, John Carpenter; one grandson, Gary Root; and two brothers, Bobby Joe Krider and James Krider.

Mrs. Meyer was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and employed as a dietary cook for over 36 years at Meyers Nursing Home and Heritage Manor, both in Beardstown and also worked at the Beardstown Bowling Alley for several years. Mary had a love for cooking and baking. She also enjoyed sewing, fishing, coloring and spending time loving and nurturing her grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 11 AM Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. Family will meet friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Calvary Baptist Church. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.sagerfuneralhome.com.
