Obituary of Melissa A. Ransom

Melissa A. Ransom, 63, of Beardstown, passed away Friday, October 27, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born April 3, 1954 in Beardstown, the daughter of Otis Raymond “Skeet” and Clara G. Swan Ransom.

She is survived by one brother, Michael (Kathryn) Ransom of Cape Girardeau, MO; three sisters, Jennie (Terry) Shinall of Beardstown, Dee (Charlie) Coffey of Rushville and Karen Cox of Beardstown; nieces and nephews, Annie (Donnie) Collins, Charles Robert Knous and Chad Knous, all of Beardstown, Nikki (Lance) Gregerson of Browning, Andrea (Dan) Hince of Prescott, WI, Shannon (Mark) Hansen of San Diego, CA, and Jamie (Terri Jo) Daniels of Pleasant Plains; and several grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Candace and Brenda Ransom.

Melissa was a 1972 graduate Beardstown High School and employed at the State of Illinois Library in Springfield for over thirty year before retiring. Ms. Ransom was a member of St. Alexius Catholic Church. Melissa cherished her family and the time she spent with them. She enjoyed attending birthday celebrations with her work family, shopping, collecting crystals and playing the lottery.

A funeral service will be held 4:30 PM Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. The family will meet friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
