Kenneth Walter Roegge, 88, of Arenzville, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Heritage Health in Beardstown.
He was born October 24, 1929 in Arenzville, the son of Walter and Selma Nobis Roegge. He married Patricia Schnitker on June 20, 1953 in Havana and she survives.
He is also survived by his children, Chris (Judy) Roegge of Urbana, Gregg (Dawn) Roegge of Rushville, Cara (Brian) Millard of Arenzville and Eric Roegge of Pleasant Plains; ten grandchildren, Erin Roegge, Shon (Lindsay) Roegge, Jessica (Jacob) Fricke, Megan (Steve) Friend, Sarah Roegge, Jacob Millard, Caleb Roegge, Alyssa Roegge, Josh Millard and Alex Roegge; one great-grandson; Sam Fricke; three sisters, Lorraine Quigg of Jacksonville, Joy (Ray) Schnitker and Martha (Ken) Phelps, all of Arenzville; and one brother, George (Trudy) Roegge of Jacksonville; and special friends, Lilly Pate and Charlie Roegge. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Harlan, Charlie and David Roegge; and two sisters, Vera Patterson and Frieda Hines.
Mr. Roegge was a 1947 graduate of Arenzville High School and served in the United States Navy on the Destroyer USS Hank during the Korean War. He was a lifelong farmer in Cass County and member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville and Arenzville American Legion Post 604. Kenneth enjoyed golfing and watching and listening to sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals. Most of all, he was a proud grandfather and loved sharing time with his grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 10 AM Monday, February 26, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville with burial at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Family will meet friends from 3 to 6 PM Sunday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church and School.
