Lorenz H. "Skeez" Kleinschmidt

Lorenz "Skeez" Kleinschmidt, 91, of Arenzville, died Sunday afternoon, January 14, 2018, at Heritage Health in Beardstown.

He was born February 14, 1926 in Beardstown, the son of August and Bertha Lovekamp Kleinschmidt. He married June Carls on January 4, 1948, in Arenzville and she preceded him in death on March 6, 2008.

He is survived by one son, Jim (wife, Jo) of Beardstown; one daughter, Karen (husband, Jim) Lovekamp of Evans, GA; six grandchildren, Tara (husband, Adam) Stephenson of Raleigh, NC, Josh (wife, Mary Hampton) Lovekamp of Phoenix, AZ, Joe (wife, Susie) Lovekamp of Evans, GA, Jamie (husband, Brad) Hobrock of Beardstown, Julie (husband, Matthew) Meyer and Jenny Kleinschmidt of Arenzville; one brother, Paul (wife, Carole) of El Paso, TX and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Walter, Herbert, Elmer, Erwin and George.

Mr. Kleinschmidt was a long time farmer in Hagener Township. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Arenzville, where he served the congregation in numerous positions. He was a United States Army veteran proudly serving his country during World War II as a tank commander of the Company C, 43rd Tank Battalion, 12th Armored Division (the Hellcats) of the 7th U.S. Army in Europe. He was also a member of the Arenzville American Legion, Cass County Board, on the Cass County Board of Review, and served as a trustee for Arenzville and Hagener Townships. Skeez was a board of education member during the 1960's helping to establish the foundation of the current Triopia Schools. He enjoyed spending time and visiting with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville with burial at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Family will meet friends from 4 PM to 6 PM Friday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church and School.
