Elizabeth Jane Elmore (Betty), age 87, passed away on September 18, 2017, in North Aurora, IL with her family by her side. She leaves behind, her loving husband, Donald Elmore; her three devoted daughters and their husbands Teresa (and John) Kowalczyk of Tucson, AZ. Karen (and Doug) Cokinis of North Aurora, IL., Sharon (and Gerry) Betterman of Aurora, IL. and her two sons and their wives Fred (and Maryann) Elmore of Weymouth, MA. and Steve (and Lori) Elmore of McKinney, TX. She also leaves behind twelve wonderful grandchildren Michelle and Blake Elmore, Ellesa and Karina Cokinis, Jessica, Meghan, Steffany and Christopher Elmore and Joe, Mike, Connor and Jake Betterman.
Betty was born August 3, 1930, in Beardstown, Il to Fred and Lucy Elliott Flamme. She had two brothers, Fred Robert Flamme who was ten years older and James Allen Weiss.who was ten years younger. She was preceded in death by both her parents and brothers.
Betty attended Beardstown High School. She was a graduate of Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. She worked at various hospitals throughout the State of Illinois but worked mostly at Elmhurst Hospital in Elmhurst, IL for 24 years as a registered nurse. She obtained her B.S. Degree in Health Education from George Williams College in 1978 and her M.S. degree in Adult Education at National College of Education in 1986.
Elizabeth dated and married her high school sweetheart Donald L. Elmore on October 21, 1951 in Beardstown, IL. They lived in Glen Ellyn, Il where they raised their five children and stayed there until they retired and moved to Tucson, AZ. In recent years, Betty and Don lived in Aurora, Il with their daughter Sharon.
Visitation will be held for Elizabeth on Saturday, September 23, at 11;00 am with the funeral service following at noon. The funeral service will be held at Sager Funeral Home, located at 202 East 8th Streetin Beardstown, IL. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Beardstown following the service.
